During extensive travels throughout Italy and through my work with Cancer patients I discovered the power that essential oils can have on health and the immune system. It was at this time that I came into contact with the special healing powers of the Bergamot essence.
The Bergamot tree (
Citrus bergamia ) grows along the coast of Calabria in southern Italy, and is considered by the Italians to be a true gift of nature. The small orange-like fruit has a unique fragrance and for this reason, its use has been limited primarily to the perfume industry and as a flavoring in certain teas. Although the medicinal uses of bergamot are numerous, comprised of more than 345 compounds, a small fraction of these compounds contain
bergaptens, which can irritate the skin and cause a photosensitive reaction when exposed to sunlight. After years of research into this problem, a medical doctor native to Calabria, Dr.Italio Saladino, formulated a patent of the bergamot extract that is 100% free of
bergaptens . Two product lines have been established using this pure form of Bergamot oil.
Bergarital ® , which is designed for use on humans, and
BergVet®, for pets.
